Battle Creek Staff Attorney
Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) has an opening for a staff attorney in its Battle Creek office.
LSSCM is a division of the Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP) which provides access to the justice system for those who need it the most through its local legal services offices, Legal Services of South Central Michigan and Farmworker Legal Services, as well several statewide advocacy programs: Michigan Poverty Law Program, the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center, the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative, and the Michigan Legal Help Program. MAP has a staff of about 100 people in offices in Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, Detroit, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Grand Rapids and Monroe.
The staff attorney position is in the Battle Creek - Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) – office, serving Calhoun, Branch, and Barry Counties. The staff attorney will provide a range of individual advocacy and impact work as a generalist, including family, consumer, public benefits and housing law.
Applicants should be licensed to practice law in Michigan or be eligible to waive in or to take the next bar examination. Exceptionally qualified May 2018 graduates will be considered. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to underserved populations.
MAP is a unionized program. Salary is from $44,000 depending on experience and includes excellent benefits.
